Double-Swept Tee Junctions for the London Cycle Scheme
In 2009, J F Plastics were tasked with devising a ducting solution to enable cables to be run to the banks of docking stations being constructed for the London Cycle Scheme.
With over 400 docking stations been installed, our ducting fittings had to enable the cable connections to be made speedily, efficiently and safely.
The solution was our Double Swept Tee junctions (Patent Pending: 1014078.8), joined with flexible ducting, which was approved by Transport for London. The junction, with its smooth branches, enables power cables to be easily daisy-chained between docking stations.
We have since gone on to supply 50,000+ units to the scheme.
We are in discussions with companies in France and Canada to supply to similar schemes.
Our solution is also been considered for use in electric car charging stations, which are beginning to be rolled out.
London Olympics Site
Through our working relationships with many of the UK's biggest builders and civils engineering merchants, we supplied many and varied ducting products used in the construction of many of the key sites, including the Olympic Stadium and the Velodrome.
Hindhead Tunnel
Cable contractors involved in the construction of the Hindhead Tunnel in 2010, required several custom junction boxes to allow easy access to pairs of electricity cables.
Our fabrication department was able to supply exactly what what needed, shown below, along with a large quantity of duct spacers.
London Gateway
We continue to supply duct spacers, long radius class 1 duct bends, split twinwall ducting and reducers to the London Gateway / DP World construction project.
Pen Y Cymoedd Windfarm
At 76 turbines, the Pen Y Cymoedd Windfarm is currently the UK's largest onshore windfarm development, based close to the Brecon Beacons National Park in south Wales.
Working directly with the main contractor, we supplied a large quantity of non-standard duct bends to be used in the construction of the turbine concrete base cans.
Hinkley Point C Power Station
We continue to supply custom spacers and, in partnership with Emtelle UK, bespoke cable duct bends in to another of the UK's biggest construction project currently being undertaken, Hinkley Point C Power Station.
